Happy New Year from all of us at Latham to all of our friends! We hope this year will be one of blessings, new vision, and walking close with the Lord.

New projects around camp
We are hitting the ground running at Camp this month with several projects including final move into the new maintenance shop and cleaning up 40 years worth of “stuff” around the old shop and barn. We also put many finishing touches to Miracle Hall and got it looking great for the dedication on Jan 20th. The BB goals are up, the floor lines are painted and the sealer put on, along with all the trim and painting. Also working on cabin 7 renovations, roadwork to the employee neighborhood and parking lot around the Maintenance Shop, and new delivery access road to the Dining Hall.

Volunteers needed
We have many projects planned for the spring and would welcome volunteer work groups to help with these. Some of the projects are: general carpentry work, painting, trail making, “tricking out” the Jesus Bus, running utility lines, building Blob tower, to name a few.

Opportunity Camp
August 3-6, 2011

This will be the first ever programmed camp for under privileged kids at Latham Springs. Our summer facilities staff will put this together and be responsible for the entire program including preaching, Bible study, counselors, special activities and recreation. We are “so” excited to be able to provide this to approximately 50 children that could not otherwise go to camp.

How to register
The plan is to offer 3-5 “spots” to the first Churches that register. To get on the list, please email phil@lathamsprings.com and put in your request. Our target is to focus on inner city kids in Waco, and outlying areas that we serve.

Volunteers needed
We will also need volunteers to work in our place of dining room help, recreation facilitators, maintenance, etc. Please pass around our need for these volunteers, so our staff can be freed up to spend a week with hands on ministry.

Hello from the desk of Andy Strecker, the Guest Services/Recreation Director at Latham Springs Camp and Retreat Center. I would like to take a moment to update y’all on what’s going on out here pertaining to my area of responsibility.

Summer Staff Winter Retreat
We recently hosted our 1st Annual Summer Staff Winter Retreat. We were very excited to have our former Summer Staffers return to visit us at camp for a time of refreshment and preparation for next summer. We were also excited about this event because several potential summer staffers came with our former staffers. It was an amazing time of fellowship and worship!

Plans for the future
We also have several recreation related projects scheduled to be completed before next summer that includes landscaping and a jogging trail at Lake Latham. Other projects include adding a water feature at Lake Latham, adding upgrades to the pool, and installing new paintball bunkers on our paintball courses. I am excited about all the upgrades and cannot wait to use them to advance God’s Kingdom!
